I'm looking for information on a fighter named Wally Bourke. I am told that he started his fighting career under the guidance of Jack Sands, but they might mean Jack Green do they? He fought most of his fights at Lithgow, but I know of one against Stan Love that may have occured in Wagga. He had bouts with Ern Goodwin, Matt Murphy, Tom Phillips, Tommy Hammond amongst others.
Wally served on HMAS Sydney during WW1 and was present at the engagemnet with the Emden. Two of his brothers were killed in France after they served at Gallipoli where one of them was wounded at Lone Pine.
